From the moment we arrive at Dwellingup you can’t escape the character and history of this gorgeous, quaint small town. Enjoy the historic Dwellingup Forest Train as it takes all pooches and peeps on WA’s last surviving lightly-built developmental railway — 8km eastward from Dwellingup to Etmilyn.

Etmilyn is a Welsh word meaning ‘small animal’. The Etmilyn Forest Heritage Trail is a 1km loop, taking around 20–25 minutes, with fragrances from Jarrah, Blackbutt, Red Gum, Blackboy, Banksia and more — then the spectacular Forest Train journey back to Dwellingup.

Bring your own lunch or choose from 3 local cafes or the Dwellingup Hotel — you’ll have an hour and a quarter to eat and explore. After lunch, we visit Vergone’s Fruit Stall (3km out of Dwellingup) for the best local seasonal fruit and veg, before heading back to Perth through the farming countryside.
