We stay in Lancelin for four hours — enough time for the beautiful beach, a pub or café lunch, and just being together. Most eateries in town are enthusiastic about furry visitors: The Endeavour Tavern’s beach-side beer garden welcomes dogs, and Offshore Cafe and Wendy’s Cafe allow them to sit with you in the alfresco area.

Walking distance: a short, flat sand path to the beach. Bring your hat, sunscreen, bathers and a towel, plus casual clothes for lunch.
